This soil, located in the middle of the slope, is composed of an argillaceous ground (fatty grounds) mixed with large deposits of limestone (grosses heads). The ground is heavier here which is reflected in the wines: the Marsannay Grasses-Tetes is a more powerful and more tannic wine. Experts often find aromas of red fruit and licorice in this wine.
