A Vita Ciro Riserva Calabria 2014
From our oldest vineyard , among the Cirò hills facing north, we collect the Gaglioppo grapes selected for the Reserve. After approximately 20 days of maceration, the wine was extracted and then refined in 2000 liter oak barrels for a year. After long refinement in the bottle, it is offered 5 years after the harvest. A proud, drinkable wine with great character. A great Cirò , fascinating and authentic son of his land.
Gaglioppo is the predominant red variety in Calabria in southern Italy, where it comprised 95-100% of Ciro DOC. The wine are characterized by a ruby colour of only moderate intensity with quite pronounced dusty tannins and aromas of roses.

One of the best Ciro DOC producers in Calabria (Hugh Johnson Pocket Wine 2024)
We can be found in Calabria in the extreme south of Italy. Our newly established company is located between the Ionian sea and the Sila mountains, on the rolling hills of Cirò, facing the sea. In this area with its clayey and calcareous soil, wine has been produced for over 2,500 years. Four vineyards, eight hectares of organic vineyard, copper and sulphur are used with great care and attention. Just green manure with minimal tilling in order to maintain soil fertility and favour biodiversity. We only grow native Calabrian grapes: Gaglioppo, Magliocco, Mantonico and Greco bianco, which give the best rendering of our terroir.
