Founded by Joseph Arlaud after World War II, Domaine Arlaud is the embodiment of the pastoral Burgundian soul. Now run by Joseph Arlaud’s grandsons Cyprien and Romain, the Domaine has been organic since 2004, and is now certified biodynamic. At the Domaine, respect for terroir is paramount, harvesting and pruning is done by hand. This small family business has earned international accolades for their hands-on approach to winemaking which has resulted in wines known for their hallmark purity and expression of terroir.
In 2014 , Dom Arlaud became the first domain in Morey Saint Denis to be certified in Biodynamics by Biodyvin.
All the Grand Crus and 1ers Crus are plowed by horse since 2004. This practice avoided the repeated passages of heavy tractors in the rows of vines which disrupt root development and soil life.
Careful sorting in the vineyard and then sort again through three sorting tables. The grapes are destemmed and not crushed. Since the 2008 vintage, several cuvees contain a proportion of whole berries.
The use of sulfur is kept to a minimum. No other oenological product is added to gurantee the authenticity of the wines.
All the red wines are bottled without fining or filtration. The betting takes palce by gravity using high-performance equipment.
Bottling is planned taking into account the lunar cycles to obtain perfect clarity of the wines and develop their aromas.
