Casarena Reserve Malbec Mendoza Argentina 2021
With a deep, dark violet color, the nose shows aromas of violets, black fruits and a hint of fresh strawberries. The mouth feel is dense, with sweet black fruit flavors and soft tobacco and sweet spice notes from French oak aging. The finish presents marked minerality and lingering flavors.
After a gentle destemming, the whole berry fruit undergoes 6 to 8 days of cold maceration at 8C. Fermentation is conducted with free run juice using natural yeasts. Fermentation temperatures are kept low in order to ensure a soft gentle extraction. The wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrel and is naturally clarified through several racking. Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels.

CASARENA (translated as “Sand House”) Winery & Vineyards is named after the earth-toned stucco exterior of the winery located on Brandsen Street, in the heart of Perdriel district in Luján de Cuyo region. Approximately 20 minutes away from downtown Mendoza, this viticulture project began in 2007 after the rebuilding of a century-old family winery.
Our winery & vineyards are located in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina and nestled into the foothills of the Andes Mountains at an altitude of over 3,000 feet above sea level. Referred to as the Primera Zona, Lujan is the first controlled appelation established in Mendoza and is home to the most prestigious vineyards in Argentina. At 33 degrees south latitude, with an average rainfall of 8-12 inches, and summer temperature differences from dawn to dusk averaging 43 degrees apart, mother nature provides us with the ideal climate and soil conditions to cultivate our pristine vineyards.
