A perfect, steep southern slope with soils consisting of blackish grey slate and volcanic elements, extremely rich in minerals. The stuff of legends, for over 100 years this has been the most lauded site in the entire Nahe winegrowing region. Fermented and matured in stainless steel vats. Noble, classic Spätlese, full rich fruits on the nose and, despite its impressive intensity, dancingly elegant and buoyant.

The Dönnhoff family has been making wine in Nahe since 1750 and since Helmut Dönnhoff took over in 1971, the winery has been producing some of the most sought-after and highly praised Rieslings in the world. He is a regular on the shortlist of ‘German Winemaker of the Year’ and the actual winner in 1999.
Inheriting the skills and knowledge from his father, Cornelius Dönnhoff was chosen as ‘Winemaker of the Year 2014’ by one of Germany’s largest national Sunday newspapers. The good news continued with Dönnhoff being recognized as one of the top 100 wines in the world for 2014, in the renowned Wine & Spirits magazine.
