Journey's End V1 Chardonnay Stellenbosch South Africa 2019
Clear and bright, straw with a hint of green. Expressive fruit, initially lemon and citrus, but under that itʼs more tropical and pineapple, all seamed through with crushed almond, savoury oak tones. This is a layered, complex wine, the result of cool-grown fruit carefully handled, plus barrel selection. The palate is silky, with a tangy finish from the fruit and acid combination, extending the flavours.

Journey's End estate were purchased and replanted by the Gabb family in 1996. Beautiful location in the Helderberg Basin near Sir Lowry's Pass benefits from south-facing slopes and cool coastal breezes. The Schaapenberg terroir with its sea-facing slopes and excellent soils has started to draw comparison with some of Bordeaux's best, with some exceptional wines emerging from the area.
Journey' End aims to produce top-quality wine with the philosophy of having minimal interference winemaking. In addition of using only the highest quality oak barrels, Jouney' End also employed clay eggs and amphorae pots to increase complexity and sophistrication for wines that does not benefit from the new oak flavours.
Production volume is small and typically no more than 25,000 dozen bottles of estate wine are produced in a typical vintage.
