(Wine Advocate Score 92+) Based on the 2014 vintage, complemented by fully 40% old reserve wines, the new release of Charles Heidsieck's NV Brut Réserve was disgorged earlier this year. It's showing very well, opening up in the glass with notes of green apple, dried white flowers, pear, candied peel and walnuts. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a textural attack and a racier, tighter-knit core than either the 2012- or 2010-base renditions, displaying good concentration and underlying richness. This is a bottling that continues to punch above its weight and which both merits and rewards a few years in the cellar before opening.

Charles Heidsieck, founded in 1851, is recognised as the producer of some of the Champagne region’s most exceptional and sought-after wines. Under the oenological direction of highly-awarded Director of Winemaking for Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck, Régis Camus – and Charles Heidsieck Chef de Caves, Cyril Brun – the Charles Heidsieck champagnes have developed an enviable reputation for quality amongst champagne connoisseurs around the world. "Here, the house [Charles Heidsieck] is rated at 97 points, second only to Krug…"

The maison’s successive Chef de Caves have been awarded by the International Wine Challenge as 'IWC Sparkling Winemaker of the year' 13 times in the 25 years of this highly-regarded title existence. The latest one was received by Cyril Brun, the current Chef de Caves, for the year 2019. It is only logical that, in parallel to their work, the champagnes themselves received numerous medals and the most prestigious recognitions. Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV was awarded "World Best Non-Vintage Blend" by the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2016. Blanc des Millenaires 2004 was bestowed Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Award 2019, and a Platinum Award with 98 points.
