Famille Moutard (Côte des Bar, Champagne & Burgundy)

A historic family of vignerons anchored in Buxeuil—celebrated for their deep mastery of Kimmeridgian Pinot Noir, their guardianship of Champagne’s rarest heirloom grape varieties, and seamless expansion into Burgundy.

Quick Facts for Consumers

  • Style: Vinous, complex, and intensely mineral. Grounded in the ancient Kimmeridgian marls of the Côte des Bar, their Champagnes display rich orchard and stone fruit, brioche complexity from extended cellar aging, and a chalky, mouthwatering saline tension.
  • Centuries of Viti-Vinicultural Heritage: With grape growing roots in Buxeuil tracing back to 1642, the estate remains entirely family-run today. Under François, Agnès, and the next generation of the Moutard family, the domain operates with a rare combination of ancestral tradition and cutting-edge craft.
  • The Rare Grape Conservators: Moutard is globally famous for protecting Champagne’s forgotten heritage grape varieties. Their historic Cuvée 6 Cépages unites Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, alongside their rare benchmark 100% Arbane bottlings.
