Made with the nebbiolo grapes picked in the Manzola vineyard, one of the most historic Barbaresco microzones. Its bright red garnet colour heralds an expansive floral bouquet and a sapid, austere palate. Already elegant when young, it acquires total harmony with age. Following suitable oxygenation, it gives of its best with roast and braised beef and veal, rabbit, lamb, hard cheeses and, aged at least ten years, biscuits and pastries.

Bruno Nada (Fiorenzo’s son) runs a small operation from just 7 ha. The fruit quality and intensity resulting from much diligence in the vineyard is, with some assistance from Giuseppe Caviola (CA’ VIOLA), harnessed into fine, elegant yet structured reds that add richness with age. Rombone, a potentially great cru, faces south-west; the Nadas’ superior selection from these slopes is aged in barriques but evolves into a very refined classy example with 5–10 years’ age. Seifile, a Barbera/ Nebbiolo blend also gets the small oak treatment and is characterised by its complexity and fruit intensity. Dolcetto and Barbera, the latter of which sees some oak, are ripe-fruited but could sometimes use a little more weight. An estate that deserves to be better known.
