From Altesino in Italy's Montalcino, the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2016 is a refined 100% Sangiovese produced from a special selection of grapes across the estate's vineyards, featuring calcareous-clay and marl soils at varying elevations that impart depth and elegance. Hand-harvested grapes from the exceptional 2016 vintage—characterized by warm, sunny conditions yielding concentrated yet balanced fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 36 months' aging in large Slavonian oak casks (3,000-10,000 liters) to foster integration and longevity. Committed to sustainable practices and innovation since 1975, this limited-production wine (10,000 bottles) yields a garnet red wine with ethereal vibrancy and remarkable structure.

Tasting Notes An elegant, complex red with ripe dark fruit and leathery spice, reflecting Montalcino's hillside terroir. The nose reveals crushed black cherry, plum, sage, lavender, and hints of violet and leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied and silky, with firm yet integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of vibrant red and blue fruit, salty minerals, and rosy florals, leading to a long, refreshing finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva earned 96 points from Wine Advocate for its unique character, power, and coiled freshness, and 95 points from James Suckling for its beautiful purity and linear tannins.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted lamb, truffle-infused dishes, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2045, developing profound leather and earthy complexities over time.
