Casa Ferreirinha Callabriga Douro 2016

Casa Ferreirinha Callabriga Douro 2016

From the historic Casa Ferreirinha in Portugal’s Douro Valley, the Callabriga 2016 is a robust red showcasing the region’s terroir. Blending 50% Touriga Franca, 40% Touriga Nacional, and 10% Tinta Roriz from high-altitude vineyards on schist soils, it’s hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel. Aged 18 months in French and American oak (50% new), it offers a deep ruby hue and intense complexity.

Winemaking Process

Casa Ferreirinha’s traditional approach defines this wine. The 2016 vintage undergoes fermentation in stainless steel with extended maceration for structure, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak. Aging 18 months in 50% new French and American oak barrels adds depth while preserving fruit vibrancy, creating a full-bodied red with polished tannins and strong aging potential.
