(Wine Advocate Score 93 for vintage 2021) The Francesco Versio 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo shows terrific balance (and great value) with plenty of wild berry fruit and freshness over a delicate, lean-bodied mouthfeel. There is blue flower, crushed stone and blood orange. The tannins are slightly dusty and firm. If you want to try an easy but exciting expression of Piedmont's mighty Nebbiolo, I direct your attention here.

Here's an exciting new project from a young man named Francesco Versio, who earned his stripes making wine at the Bruno Giacosa winery alongside famed enologist Dante Scaglione. Before that, Francesco earned his degrees at the Alba school of enology in 2005, with a specialization in agronomy in 2009. Francesco's family owns tiny parcels with some old vines in Neive; one is located in San Cristoforo and the other in Currà. In 2012, Francesco embarked on this project and soon started making wine under his own brand.
