Domaine de la Butte Le Haut de la Butte 2022 is a certified organic Bourgueil Cabernet Franc from the top of the hillside, offering ripe black fruit, floral lift, and a firm mineral backbone. It is fuller and more structured than the lower-slope cuvées, but still polished and accessible.

The wine comes from south-facing clay and silex soils over limestone, with about 35-plus-year-old vines, hand harvesting, de-stemming, indigenous yeast fermentation, and aging in a mix of cement and older barrels. The 2022 vintage is noted for generous fruit and balance, with the estate’s hilltop terroir giving extra depth and tension.

Tasting Notes

Expect dark cherry, blackberry, plum, violet, graphite, pepper, and smoky mineral notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied, juicy, and silky at the core, with a more serious tannic frame and a long chalky finish.
