From Domaine Jean-Pierre Guyon in France’s Vosne-Romanée appellation, the Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières 2022 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from old vines (over 60 years) in the Les Charmes de Mazières vineyard, featuring clay-limestone soils that impart elegance and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—characterized by warm days and cool nights yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo whole-cluster fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 14-18 months’ aging in French oak barrels (30% new) to enhance complexity and finesse. Certified organic since 2012, this production emphasizes minimal intervention and terroir expression, yielding a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and exceptional vibrancy.
Tasting Notes An elegant, expressive red with vibrant red fruit and refined spice, reflecting Vosne-Romanée’s limestone-clay terroir. The nose unveils red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and hints of spice and forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with silky tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of juicy red berries, mineral earthiness, and subtle oak, leading to a long, refined finish.
Awards and Accolades The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières earned 93 points from Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) for its concentrated fruit and elegant, harmonious structure.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted poultry, game, or mushroom-based dishes. Enjoy now through 2035, developing enhanced earthy and truffle nuances over time.
