Crafted by Maison Joseph Drouhin, a renowned Burgundy house founded in 1880, the 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges is a pure Pinot Noir sourced from multiple vineyard parcels across the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation in the Côte de Nuits, featuring limestone and clay soils at elevations of 230-300 meters. These sites contribute to the wine’s balance of power and elegance. Grapes are hand-harvested, partially destemmed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-top vats to enhance aromatic depth, followed by 12-15 months of aging in French oak barrels (15-20% new) to integrate subtle complexity while preserving fruit purity. This biodynamic approach, certified since 2009, captures the 2023 vintage’s exceptional ripeness and balance, shaped by a warm growing season that produced concentrated, high-quality fruit. The result is a wine that combines Nuits-Saint-Georges’ characteristic structure with Drouhin’s signature finesse, reflecting the appellation’s diverse terroir.

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir displays a vibrant ruby hue with aromas of red cherry, blackberry, and spice, accented by hints of earth and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, offering flavors of ripe red berries, graphite, and a touch of licorice, supported by fine tannins, bright acidity, and a long, mineral-infused finish.
