Green Apples, Lemon Zest, Crushed Chalk, and Pure Chablis Precision

The 2024 Maison Louis Latour Chablis is a crystalline, textbook expression of northern Burgundy. Grown on classic Kimmeridgian limestone soils, it reveals fragrant aromas of crisp green apples, lemon zest, white flowers, and flinty wet stone. Medium-bodied, taut, and unoaked, it marries lively orchard fruit with razor-sharp acidity and distinct chalky minerality, culminating in a clean, refreshing, and saline finish.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay crafted from roughly 30-year-old vines across prime hillside parcels in Chablis.
  • Grown on classical Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilized sea shells (Exogyra virgula), delivering trademark flinty minerality and saline freshness.
  • Crafted by historic Burgundy house Maison Louis Latour, upholding traditional Burgundian precision since 1797.
  • Fermented and aged for 8 to 10 months entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with full malolactic fermentation, prioritizing purity and terroir transparency without oak interference.
  • From the crisp 2024 harvest; drinking brilliantly now and over the next 3 to 5 years.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw-yellow with luminous green reflections, it opens with pure, focused aromas of Granny Smith apples, fresh lemon zest, and white peach, underlined by white blossom, wet chalk, and sea breeze salinity. The palate is medium-bodied, linear, and tensile, offering crisp orchard fruit carried along a spine of racy, refreshing acidity and stony minerality, concluding on a clean, vibrant, and mouth-watering finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve chilled at 10–12°C in standard white wine or tulip-shaped glassware.
  • Decanting: Best enjoyed directly upon opening; brief aeration in the glass allows its subtle flinty aromas and crisp orchard fruit to shine. Prime drinking window now through 2029+.
