Yellow Orchard Apples, Roasted Hazelnuts, Brioche, and Meursault Generosity

The 2024 Maison Louis Latour Meursault is a classically rich, rounded white Burgundy. It reveals inviting aromas of yellow orchard apples, ripe pears, toasted hazelnuts, and warm buttered brioche. Medium-to-full-bodied and supple, it balances creamy texture and stone fruit generosity against a refreshing spine of limestone acidity, finishing clean, savory, and delicately nutty.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay crafted from mature ~30-year-old vines across select hillside parcels in Meursault in the Côte de Beaune.
  • Grown on classical Jurassic limestone and marly clay soils, giving this benchmark cuvée its signature roundness, generous body, and underlying stony focus.
  • Crafted by Maison Louis Latour, a family-run Burgundy négociant and producer established in 1797 with over two centuries of white winemaking history.
  • Fermented traditionally in French oak barrels crafted in Maison Latour's proprietary cooperage, followed by complete malolactic fermentation and 8 to 10 months aging to harmoniously knit fruit and subtle toasty complexity.
  • From the 2024 harvest; approachable and harmonious for drinking now through 2032+.

Tasting Notes

Pale golden-yellow with brilliant green reflections, it opens with classical Meursault aromas of yellow orchard apples, poached pears, and white peach, elegantly interwoven with notes of roasted hazelnuts, warm butter, acacia blossoms, and a gentle touch of toasted brioche. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, rounded, and silky, coating the mouth in juicy stone fruit and delicate pastry nuances while held in check by a clean, balanced spine of limestone freshness, concluding on a persistent, savory, and nutty mineral finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 11–13°C in wide Burgundy or universal white wine glassware.
  • Decanting: Best served with 15 to 20 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its hazelnut, butter, and orchard fruit aromatics to blossom. Prime drinking window now through 2032+.
