(Wine Advocate Score 93) Marco Marengo's 2013 Barolo sees fruit sourced from four vineyards located in the La Morra township. These are Serradenari, Fossati, Boiolo and Roncaglie. Fruit is harvested, fermented separately and assembled later in order to preserve the subtle characteristics of each site. This vintage stands apart for the bright exuberance of the fruit and the noble qualities of the tannins. That characteristic firm silkiness that you get with fruit from La Morra is put proudly front and center.

A more modern style of Barolo which is more fruitier and has some new oak vanilla and cloves. Yet, the oak adds complexity rather than overpower the delicacy of Nebbiolo. Maceration with the skins for approx. 10 days depending on the vintage. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are natural: no yeast nor bacteria are added. The temperature in the cellar is raised in order to make the malolactic fermentation start. The wine matures for 24 months in French oak barriques (15% new) and it is bottled during the following summer.
