The Ohligsberg is a very steep, south-west facing slope that rises on the banks of the Moselle near Wintrich. Coarse, hard slate stones with a blue-gray color mix here with quartz laced with iron oxide. This soil heats up very quickly in the sun and brings the Riesling grapes to a particularly high level of ripeness. The Ohligsberg is a forgotten classic of famous Moselle locations; around 1900, wines from this location achieved the highest prices at auctions.

In the nose you will find ripe stone fruit and lemons, as well as the stony slate minerality. Dense, juicy and yet light and elegant on the palate, fruits such as pineapple and very ripe lemons appear here. The fresh acidity and salty minerals promise great aging potential. The sweet fruit always appears slim and lively. This Riesling should rest in the bottle for 2 years to develop a more lush aroma and can mature to its full potential over 10 years. As a young wine, however, it is already very stimulating and playful.
