Château Rieussec Sauternes 2009

Château Rieussec Sauternes 2009

From the prestigious Château Rieussec in Sauternes, Bordeaux, the 2009 vintage is a luxurious dessert wine from a remarkable year. Crafted from 84% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc, and 4% Muscadelle, sourced from 85 hectares of gravelly clay soils, it’s hand-harvested with botrytised grapes. Fermented and aged 26 months in French oak barrels (55% new), it showcases Sauternes’ noble rot with a golden hue and refined opulence.

Winemaking Process

Rieussec’s meticulous approach defines this wine. The 2009 vintage, from botrytised grapes picked in multiple passes, undergoes slow fermentation in stainless steel and oak. Aging for 26 months in 55% new French oak enhances its complexity, balancing intense sweetness with vibrant acidity, creating a harmonious wine with exceptional aging potential.
