The Hess Collection 19 Block Mountain Cuvée 2013
From The Hess Collection estate on Napa Valley’s Mount Veeder, the 19 Block Mountain Cuvée 2013 is a robust, elegant red wine showcasing the region’s high-elevation terroir. Crafted from 61% Malbec, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, and 3% Syrah, sourced from 19 select vineyard blocks at 1,300–2,000 feet, it’s estate-grown on volcanic clay soils. Fermented in stainless steel and aged 18 months in French oak (40% new), it boasts an opaque purple hue and refined depth.
Winemaking Process
The Hess Collection’s dedication to sustainable, Napa Green-certified practices shines in this wine. The 2013 vintage, from vines on Mount Veeder’s rugged slopes, undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation with extended maceration. Aging in French oak barrels for 18 months enhances its structure, creating a concentrated yet approachable wine that reflects the estate’s focus on quality and terroir.
