From Barone Ricasoli, the historic estate founded in 1141 in Italy’s Chianti Classico region, the Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2010 is a refined 100% Sangiovese sourced from the estate’s best parcels across the Brolio zone of Gaiole in Chianti, featuring a complex mosaic of galestro (schistous clay) and alberese (limestone) soils at 300-450 meters elevation that impart exceptional depth and longevity. Hand-harvested grapes from the outstanding 2010 vintage—marked by cool nights and steady ripening yielding concentrated yet balanced fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 24 months’ aging in 500-liter tonneaux (50% new) and extended bottle maturation to foster profound complexity. As the pinnacle of the estate’s portfolio, this flagship Gran Selezione yields a garnet wine with brick edges and majestic evolution.

Tasting Notes An elegant, mature red with evolved dark fruit and profound balsamic depth, reflecting Chianti Classico's galestro-alberese terroir. The nose reveals dried cherry, plum, leather, and hints of truffle, tobacco, and balsamic herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and seamless, with silky tannins, integrated acidity, and flavors of black tea, earth, and subtle spice, leading to a long, harmonious finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2010 Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione earned 95 points from Wine Spectator for its refined maturity and exceptional balance.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60-90 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted game, truffle risotto, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, at peak maturity with tertiary complexity.
