From Barone Ricasoli, the historic estate founded in 1141 in Italy’s Chianti Classico region, the Ceni Primo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020 is a refined 100% Sangiovese sourced from a 5-hectare single vineyard in the Brolio zone of Gaiole in Chianti, featuring a unique mix of galestro (schistous clay) and alberese (limestone) soils at 420 meters elevation that impart exceptional depth and mineral tension. Hand-harvested grapes from the exceptional 2020 vintage—marked by ideal ripening conditions yielding rich yet balanced fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 24 months’ aging in 500-liter tonneaux (40% new) to foster integration and longevity.
