Fruit from limestone‑ and clay‑rich sites in Serralunga is farmed with low yields and traditional rigor, then aged about 30 months in large French oak casks and a further year in bottle, reaching 15% alcohol while retaining balance. The wine is positioned as a territorial Barolo that prepares drinkers for Giacosa’s individual crus, uniting classic structure with the house’s hallmark elegance and precision in both vineyard and cellar.
Tasting Notes
Garnet‑red core with ruby reflections; complex, elegant nose of rose petals, ripe cherry, red plum, raspberry, truffle, sweet spice and a hint of tobacco. The flavor is dry, full and generous yet harmonious, with high but well‑integrated acidity, polished velvety tannins, juicy red‑fruit core, subtle balsamic/earthy nuances and a long, persistent, mineral‑marked finish.
Serving and Cellaring
Serve at 16‑18 °C in a large Burgundy or Barolo glass, ideally after decanting young bottles. It pairs well with red meats, game, rich stews and aged cheeses, and has the structure to age comfortably for well over a decade from vintage.
