Crafted by Bodegas Caro, a prestigious partnership between the Catena family and Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in Mendoza, Argentina, the 2022 Petit Caro is a sophisticated blend primarily of Malbec with Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, including parcels in Altamira and Gualtallary. Grapes are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 12 months of aging in French oak barrels to enhance structure and finesse. This process highlights the unique terroir of Mendoza’s calcareous and limestone-rich soils at elevations of 900–1,200 meters, delivering a wine that marries the bold fruit of Malbec with the refined structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting sustainable practices and Bordeaux-inspired craftsmanship.

Tasting Notes

This blend displays a deep garnet-purple hue with aromas of blackberry liqueur, cassis, and crushed violets, complemented by notes of mocha, graphite, and a hint of sweet spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet harmonious, offering concentrated flavors of dark plum, black cherry, and subtle tobacco, underpinned by fine, velvety tannins, bright acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish.
