From Castell'in Villa in Italy’s Chianti Classico DOCG, the Chianti Classico 2018 is a refined 100% Sangiovese sourced from estate vineyards in Castelnuovo Berardenga on limestone-clay soils that impart mid-weight elegance and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2018 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet vibrant fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 24 months' aging in large Slavonian oak casks to enhance integration and complexity. This historic estate, emphasizing traditional methods, yields a ruby red wine with garnet edges and harmonious poise.

Tasting Notes An elegant, classic red with vibrant red fruit and earthy savoriness, reflecting Chianti Classico’s limestone terroir. The nose reveals cherry, leather, tobacco, cedar, and hints of Castelnuovo Berardenga earthiness. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of red berries, spice, and mineral earthiness, leading to a long, graceful finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2018 Chianti Classico earned 92 points from Vinous for its joyous style and classic house signatures.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with roasted poultry, pasta with meat sauce, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2033, developing greater leather and earthy nuances over time.
