Planted in 1968 on 8 acres of south-facing hillside at 530–610 feet elevation, Volcanic Hill occupies the estate's warmest microclimate with light, fluffy gray rhyolitic tuff ash from Mt. Konocti eruptions 8 million years ago. Hand-harvested then aged 20+ months in new French oak, the 2014 vintage captures the site's powerful, age-worthy character—often the longest-lived Diamond Creek expression—through low yields on this rocky slope.
