Dark Cherries, Exotic Spices, Velvety Power, and Grand Cru Majesty

The 2024 Domaine Arnaud et Sophie Sirugue-Noëllat Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru is an extraordinarily profound, complex, and statuesque Pinot Noir from one of the most revered grand cru sites in the Côte de Nuits. Crafted from centenarian vines farmed by Arnaud and Sophie Sirugue, this magnificent wine showcases the pinnacle of heritage winemaking and terroir depth. Soaring aromas of dark cherries, wild black raspberries, crushed violets, incense, and exotic spices lead into a powerful, multi-layered palate. Framed by velvety yet structured tannins, deep mineral tension, and a seemingly endless finish, it is a breathtaking expression of Burgundian grand cru majesty.

Terroir, History & Acclaim

Critical Recognition:
Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) 93–96 pts
  • 93–96 Points - Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): A barrel, a half barrel and a quarter barrel this year. All the bunches have been cut into florets leaving the main stem out. Paler ruby. Fresh lifted raspberry, on the nose, more cherry on the palate, discreet but the class of the vineyard does show through at the finish. Very classy, medium bodied and eats up its new wood (tasted from the new barrel). Drink from 2034-2039. Tasted Nov 2025 by Jasper Morris MW.
  • The Grands-Echezeaux Terroir: Sourced from a prized 0.12-hectare parcel featuring centenarian vines (100+ years old) planted in the heart of the Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru. The deep, well-drained clay and limestone soils over hard rock provide an ideal balance of power, elegance, and longevity.
  • Masterful Craftsmanship: Vinified using 100% whole clusters to build multi-dimensional aromatic lift and intricate structure, followed by aging in 100% new French oak barrels yielding just a couple of precious barrels per vintage.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir from 100+ year-old vines in the legendary Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru.
  • Awarded a magnificent **93–96 points** by Jasper Morris (*Inside Burgundy*).
  • An ultra-rare 2024 grand cru release crafted with whole clusters and 100% new oak; built for decades of exceptional cellaring.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep, impenetrable ruby-purple with a glowing crimson rim.
  • Nose: Intensely complex and aristocratic. It unfurls with layers of dark cherry, blackberry coulis, and crushed violets, perfectly integrated with smoky whole-cluster nuances, incense, dark chocolate, and subtle Asian spices.
  • Palate: Dry, med-to-full-bodied, and deeply structured. The entry is a masterclass in concentration, delivering lush dark fruit extract carried on a wave of velvety, refined tannins and vibrant freshness, culminating in a soaring, endlessly long mineral finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 16–18°C in large, premium Burgundy glassware to allow its profound layers to fully unpack.
  • Decanting: Essential if opening in its youth. Decant for 2 hours or more. Best enjoyed from 2032 through 2050+.
  • Western Pairing: Roasted rack of venison, prime ribeye with truffle butter, wild duck, or aged artisanal cheeses.
  • Asian Pairing: Peking duck, slow-braised beef short ribs (Galbi-jim), or rich truffle-infused preparations.
