(Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy Score 94-97) 60% whole bunch and 19 new barrels out of 23. Denser purple black with an impressively weighty nose which hides the whole bunch component. Completely different from the Grands Echezeaux, but very nearly as good. A nice touch of cabernet jokes Frédéric. Stern stuff but not firm, it has a juicy weight throughout and a fabulous dark liqueur finish. Almost as long finish. Tasted: November 2018.

Le Clos Vougeot surprises us with its elegant straightforwardness. More on the reserve than the previous Grand Crus, Clos Vougeot retains this sold and homogeneous framework. More powerful, it marries in a surprising way the structure of Echezeaux with the finesse of Grands-Echezeaux. Since 2007, Clos Vougeot has been made from a blend of a destemmed grape cuvee and a whole grape cuvee.
