Terroir, History & Acclaim
- 95-97 Points - Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): 63% new wood, 54% whole bunch, but varying across the sectors. A clear fresh mid purple. No reduction here, instead a finer and more sensual fruit than I remember in the past. This is very classy in fact, with an excellent thread of mineral acidity. A range of fruit colours, just a few black notes at the back of solid red, and excellent length. Very fine. Drink from 2029-2040. Drink from 2029-2040. Tasted Nov 2022 by Jasper Morris MW.
- The Clos de Tart Monopole Terroir: A legendary 7.53-hectare walled grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis unbroken since 1141. The vineyard runs north-to-south across varied limestone and clay benches, providing natural erosion protection and yielding fruit with both intense aromatic lift and deep structural integrity.
- Organic & Biodynamic Craft: Farmed biodynamically and vinified parcel by parcel with measured whole-cluster inclusion. The 2021 expresses pure vintage transparency, emphasizing floral delicacy, chalky precision, and aristocratic restraint.
Highlights
- 100% Pinot Noir from the historic Grand Cru Monopole in Morey-Saint-Denis.
- Awarded **95 points** by Jasper Morris (*Inside Burgundy*).
- A cool-toned, classic 2021 release offering tensile red fruit and fine-boned minerality; built to age gracefully over 15 to 25+ years.
Tasting Notes
Bright, translucent ruby in color, it opens with pure, fragrant aromas of wild raspberries, redcurrants, and fresh rose petals, layered with hints of subtle incense and crushed limestone. The palate is medium-bodied and finely drawn, balancing a vibrant core of red fruit sap with fine-boned, silky tannins and energizing acidity that sustains an aristocratic, tension-filled mineral finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve at 15–17°C in wide Burgundy stems.
- Decanting: Decant for 1 to 2 hours if opening young. Best enjoyed from 2028 through 2045+.
