Dark Berries, Wild Herbs, Savory Depth, and Pure Monopole Elegance

The 2022 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos des Issarts" is an authentic, beautifully sculpted Pinot Noir from the domaine's tiny 0.6-hectare monopole. It reveals enticing aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, subtle licorice, and forest floor. Medium-bodied and seamless, it pairs rich fruit with fine-grained, structured tannins and vibrant cool-vintage energy, delivering an aristocratic, mineral-laced finish.

Terroir & Domaine Craft

  • The "Clos des Issarts" Monopole: A tiny 0.6-hectare walled parcel wholly owned by Domaine Faiveley since 2002. Nestled adjacent to the Ruchottes-Chambertin grand cru on thin, stony limestone and clay soils, it benefits from a protected, cool microclimate that yields wines of immense precision, tension, and floral complexity.
  • Artisanal Faiveley Vinification: The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted with extreme care. Following temperature-controlled fermentation with gentle extraction, the wine is aged in fine-grained French oak barrels with moderate new wood to preserve the parcel’s delicate aromatic detail and energetic mineral spine.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir from Domaine Faiveley's exclusive 0.60-hectare Monopole in Gevrey-Chambertin.
  • Situated directly beside the Grand Cru Ruchottes-Chambertin slope.
  • A classically taut and aromatic 2021 vintage; prime drinking from 2027 to 2038+.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby in appearance, it opens with pure, fragrant aromas of ripe black cherries, wild raspberries, and violet florals, accented by hints of licorice, damp chalk, and subtle spice. The palate is medium-bodied, linear, and finely structured, carrying crunchy dark and red berry fruit across chalky, fine-grained tannins and energetic acidity that leads into a persistent, refined, and mineral-driven finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 15–17°C in wide Burgundy stems.
  • Decanting: Decant for 45 to 60 minutes if opening young. Best enjoyed from 2027 through 2038+.
