From Domaine Georges Vernay in France's IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, the Syrah Sainte Agathe 2022 is a refined 100% Syrah sourced from 40-year-old vines on south/southeast-facing granitic terraces within the Condrieu appellation boundaries, where the decomposing granite soils impart remarkable freshness and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet lively fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 2-3 weeks, followed by 12 months' aging in used French oak barrels to enhance finesse without overt wood influence. Certified organic since 2009 under Christine Vernay, this limited-production wine (6,000 bottles) yields a deep ruby wine with vibrant purity and graceful poise.

Tasting Notes An elegant, vibrant red with fresh red fruit and peppery spice, reflecting the granitic terraces of Condrieu's terroir. The nose reveals red berries, cherries, tapenade, paprika, and hints of fine spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and ample, with a frank attack, beautiful acidity, saline freshness, spicy and peppery frame, and flavors of juicy fruits leading to good structure and length.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Syrah Sainte Agathe earned 91 points from RVF for its depth, freshness, and lively charm.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with roast veal, charcuterie, or hard cheeses. Enjoy now through 2032, developing greater earthy and spice nuances over time.
