This cuvée blends two complementary Meursault climats: Les Casse-Têtes' rocky hillside providing tension and Murger de Monthélie bordering Monthélie with clay-limestone for roundness. From Patrick Javillier's 10-ha domaine near Meursault, hand-harvested Chardonnay undergoes barrel fermentation, lees aging, and oak maturation following his philosophy of assembling parcels for balance, producing refined whites at around 13% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw yellow; quite spicy nose with lemon-and-lime freshness and saltiness. Mealy, savory palate with creaminess balanced by fresh acidity, long finish offering refreshing salinity.
Serving and Cellaring
Serve at 11-13°C in a Chardonnay glass. Drink from 2025-2033 as savory notes develop; pairs with rich fish, shellfish, veal, or lobster gratin.
