Hand-harvested from Glenelly Estate's vineyards in the Simonsberg sub-region of Stellenbosch, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with cooling False Bay breezes and moderate 2021 growing conditions for optimal ripeness and acidity. 100% Merlot grapes were lightly crushed, cold-soaked for 3 days, naturally fermented with pump-overs, extended maceration (2-3 weeks), malolactic in French oak barrels, and matured 12 months (racked every 4 months), yielding 14.5% alcohol, pH 3.56, TA 5.2 g/L, RS 3 g/L. Production: 7,064 cases.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red; aromas of dark fruit, cherry, chocolate, and spicy plums. The palate shows tremendous concentration, richness, and generous fruit embraced by fine, well-structured, balanced tannins.
