Red Cherries, Savory Spice, Silky Texture, and Old-Vine Pedigree

Crafted under Jean-Marie Fourrier’s prestigious micro-négociant label, this old-vine Pinot Noir vastly overdelivers for its regional classification. Completely destemmed and handled with Fourrier’s signature gentle touch, it showcases a beautifully pure expression of red cherry, rosemary, and subtle spice. Tight, focused, and impressively structured, it balances old-vine fruit density with vibrant, lip-smacking freshness.

Critical Recognition

JamesSuckling.com 93 pts
  • 93 Points - JamesSuckling.com: This has a complex and pretty nose of red cherries, rosemary, spices and chocolate digestives. Tight and well framed on the palate, with a medium to full body and a fantastic structure for this appellation. Better from 2025.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir sourced from mature Vieilles Vignes (old vines), bottled under Jean-Marie Fourrier's esteemed micro-négociant label, Vigne Comte de Chapelle.
  • Old vines naturally regulate and restrict yields, providing a depth of flavor and structural framing that elevates this wine far above a standard Bourgogne Rouge.
  • Vinified in strict accordance with Fourrier's domaine philosophy: 100% destemmed to preserve purity of fruit and ensure silky tannins without any green astringency.
  • Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged meticulously in neutral, older French oak barrels to allow the delicate aromatics to remain unmasked.
  • The highly successful 2022 vintage yielded beautifully ripe, expressive Pinot Noir that manages to balance generous fruit weight with classical Burgundian freshness and tension.

Tasting Notes

Pours a brilliant ruby core with a bright rim. The nose is remarkably complex and highly inviting for its tier, opening with pure red cherry and crushed raspberry, beautifully interwoven with savory nuances of rosemary, baking spice, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, tight, and focused. The dense, old-vine fruit is impeccably framed by fine-grained tannins and a spine of vibrant, lifting acidity, culminating in a precise, structured, and mouth-watering finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve slightly chilled at 14–16°C (57–60°F) in large Burgundy bowls to emphasize its lifted perfume.
  • Decanting: Minimal aeration required; open 30 minutes before serving. Pairs wonderfully with roast poultry, grilled pork chops, or an earthy wild mushroom tart. Drink from 2025 through 2032.
