Ripe Orchard Fruit, Crushed Stone, Creamy Opulence, and Precision-Driven Energy

Crafted by iconic winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier under his micro-négociant label, this old-vine Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet’s renowned Morgeot Premier Cru is a masterclass in balance. The rich, clay-heavy soils impart a classic creaminess and opulent stone fruit profile, which Fourrier seamlessly tightens with his signature precision and vibrant, wet-stone minerality. It is a highly refined, texturally sumptuous white Burgundy that dances elegantly on the palate.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay sourced from the revered Morgeot Premier Cru in Chassagne-Montrachet, bottled under Fourrier’s micro-négociant label, Vigne Comte de Chapelle.
  • Grown on Morgeot’s signature deep, clay-heavy soils, which naturally impart a rich, textural opulence and buttery weight to the resulting wine.
  • Produced from Vieilles Vignes (old vines), which naturally restrict yields and deliver intensely concentrated fruit character and remarkable depth.
  • Vinification adheres to Fourrier's strict low-intervention philosophy: fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged meticulously in older, neutral oak to prioritize tension over wood influence.
  • The generous 2023 vintage beautifully balances the site's natural richness with Fourrier's hallmark precision, yielding a vibrant, energetic, and flawlessly structured Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes

Pours a brilliant pale gold in the glass. The nose is inviting and expansive, offering a classic Chassagne bouquet of ripe yellow apple, white peach, and lemon curd, beautifully complicated by notes of toasted hazelnut, white flowers, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and texturally sumptuous. The old-school creaminess and opulent stone fruit core are effortlessly lifted by a spine of vibrant, precision-driven acidity, culminating in a long, mouth-watering, and deeply mineral finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 11–13°C (52–55°F) in large Burgundy bowls to allow the rich, creamy aromatics to unfurl.
  • Decanting: Minimal aeration required; open 30 minutes before pouring. Pairs exquisitely with butter-poached lobster, roasted poultry in a cream sauce, or seared scallops. Drink from 2026 through 2038.
