Critical Recognition
- 94 Points - James Suckling: Attractive flint and salted butter aromas waft from the glass, followed by white peaches, roasted almonds and cacao butter. Full-bodied, deliciously buttery and broad—just what you want from a Meursault—with intensity and persistence. Hard to resist. Drink now or hold.
Highlights
- 100% Chardonnay sourced from select Vieilles Vignes (old vines) across prime Meursault parcels, bottled under Fourrier's prestigious micro-négociant label, Vigne Comte de Chapelle.
- The village's prized limestone and marl soils contribute to the wine's underlying flinty tension, expertly balancing its natural opulence and buttery weight.
- Produced from old vines, which naturally regulate yields to deliver exceptional extract, textural breadth, and flavor concentration.
- Vinified in strict accordance with Fourrier's low-intervention philosophy: whole-cluster pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and managed with minimal lees stirring to preserve pristine focus.
- The superb 2022 vintage yielded beautifully ripe, expressive Chardonnay, resulting in a full-bodied, classically styled Meursault with rich buttery notes and vibrant persistence.
Tasting Notes
Pours a brilliant, pale lemon-gold. The nose is highly expressive and distinctly Meursault, opening with attractive aromas of flint and warm salted butter, followed seamlessly by ripe white peach, roasted almond, and a delicate touch of cacao butter. On the palate, it is full-bodied, deliciously broad, and texturally opulent, yet beautifully anchored by a streak of fresh, lifting acidity. It finishes long, intense, and profoundly persistent, perfectly marrying richness with crystalline tension.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve at 11–13°C (52–55°F) in large Burgundy bowls to allow the rich, buttery aromatics to fully unfurl.
- Decanting: Minimal aeration required; simply open 30 minutes before serving. Pairs exquisitely with butter-poached lobster, roasted poultry in a rich cream sauce, or seared scallops. Drink now through 2032.
