Ripe Red Berries, Iron Ore, Polished Tannins, and High-Altitude Elegance

Produced from high-elevation old vines under Jean-Marie Fourrier's micro-négociant label, this expression of Pommard's Les Petits Noizons is remarkably finessed. Balancing the appellation's typical muscularity with Fourrier's signature purity, it offers a vibrant core of red and dark berries laced with iron and earth. Completely destemmed and gently extracted, it is an energetic, transparent, and beautifully polished Pinot Noir that champions elegance over sheer power.

Critical Recognition

James Suckling 94 pts
  • 94 Points - James Suckling: This is an elegant and ethereal Pommard, yet it’s concentrated, packing in aromas and flavors of wild raspberries, cranberries, lavender, orange peel and cloves. It’s medium-bodied, brimming with red fruit and framed by very fine tannins. Delicious already, but better from 2025.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir sourced from Les Petits Noizons, a highly regarded, high-altitude lieu-dit situated on the steep, upper slopes of northern Pommard. Bottled under the Vigne Comte de Chapelle label.
  • The vineyard's shallow, rocky clay-limestone soils naturally limit yields and impart a distinct mineral tension, resulting in a significantly more elegant and precise style than wines from lower Pommard.
  • Sourced from mature Vieilles Vignes (old vines), which provide natural flavor concentration, pure fruit intensity, and textural depth without requiring heavy extraction.
  • Vinified according to Jean-Marie Fourrier’s strict low-intervention philosophy: 100% destemmed, fermented spontaneously with native yeasts, and extracted very gently through precise punch-downs.
  • Aged carefully in roughly 20% new French oak for 12 to 16 months, ensuring the pristine aromatics, structural clarity, and transparency of the generous 2022 vintage are perfectly preserved.

Tasting Notes

Pours a brilliant, transparent ruby core with a pale rim. The nose is highly lifted and pure, offering an inviting array of wild red cherry and dark berries, underscored by a pronounced iron minerality, earthy forest floor, and a touch of peppery licorice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and beautifully focused, prioritizing elegance over raw muscularity. The pure fruit is vibrant and tense, supported by impeccably polished, fine-grained tannins and a streak of fresh acidity that carries through to a precise, savory, and mouth-watering finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve slightly chilled at 15–16°C (59–61°F) in large Burgundy bowls to enhance the wine's delicate, lifted perfume.
  • Decanting: Minimal aeration required; simply open 30 to 45 minutes before serving. Pairs wonderfully with roast duck, pan-seared lamb chops, or a wild mushroom risotto. Drink from 2026 through 2038.
