White Peach, Crushed Stone, High-Altitude Tension, and Premier Cru Brilliance

Sourced from old vines high on the slopes of Puligny-Montrachet, this micro-négociant cuvée by Jean-Marie Fourrier is a masterclass in tension and purity. The shallow, stony soils of Champ Gain yield a beautifully chiseled Chardonnay brimming with white peach, lemon zest, and crushed stone. Minimal intervention and subtle oak framing result in a brilliant, racy white Burgundy of exceptional elegance and focus.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay sourced from Champ Gain, a high-altitude Premier Cru in Puligny-Montrachet known for producing some of the village's most tensile and elegant wines, bottled under Fourrier's micro-négociant label.
  • The vineyard's shallow, rocky limestone soils impart a distinctive crushed-stone minerality and laser-like precision to the finished wine.
  • Produced from Vieilles Vignes (old vines), which naturally restrict yields and provide deep flavor concentration that perfectly balances the site's naturally high acidity.
  • Vinified following Jean-Marie Fourrier's low-intervention philosophy: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimal lees stirring (bâtonnage) to preserve absolute freshness and tension.
  • The generous 2023 vintage yielded pristine, expressive fruit, aged meticulously in roughly 20% new French oak to allow the terroir and delicate floral aromatics to shine unmasked.

Tasting Notes

Pours a brilliant, pale lemon-gold. The nose is highly focused and pure, soaring from the glass with inviting aromas of white peach, Meyer lemon zest, and white acacia flowers, underpinned by an intense crushed-chalk minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully tense, driven by a racy spine of acidity. The pristine orchard fruit is tightly coiled, leading to a long, precise, and distinctly saline finish that vibrates with energy.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 11–13°C (52–55°F) in standard white Burgundy glasses to focus its bright, mineral-driven aromatics.
  • Decanting: Minimal aeration needed; simply open 30 minutes before serving. Pairs exquisitely with seared scallops, sole meunière, or a fresh goat cheese salad. Drink from 2026 through 2038.
