Les Champeaux is a 3.3 ha Premier Cru vineyard on a northeast-facing slope at the edge of the Combe de Lavaux, with limestone and clay soils and cooling winds providing minerality, acidity, and elegant red fruit. Hand-harvested grapes from the Guillon domaine are traditionally fermented then aged 13-15 months in 100% new French oak barrels (signature style mentored by Henri Jayer), yielding concentrated Côte de Nuits wines at around 13.5% alcohol with notable aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Cool, pure, restrained nose of red currant, plum, earth, and sauvage hints; sleek, beautifully refined medium-weight palate with lovely detail, fine delineation, balanced minerality, silky tannins, and a classy, mineral-inflected finish. Textbook Les Champeaux expression.
