From Domaine Jean-Pierre Guyon in France’s Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation, the Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets 2022 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from old vines in the Les Peuillets Premier Cru vineyard, featuring clay-limestone and sandy soils that impart vibrancy and finesse. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—characterized by warm days and cool nights yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo whole-cluster fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 12-18 months' aging in French oak barrels (20-30% new) to enhance complexity and texture. Certified organic since 2012, this production emphasizes minimal intervention and terroir expression, yielding a ruby red wine with garnet edges and poised intensity.
Tasting Notes An elegant, vibrant red with ripe red fruits and subtle earthy spice, reflecting Savigny-lès-Beaune's clay-limestone terroir. The nose reveals red cherry, raspberry, and hints of violet, spice, and forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of juicy red berries, earth, and a touch of minerality, leading to a long, graceful finish.
Awards and Accolades The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets earned 92 points from Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) for its vibrant fruit and refined balance.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, or charcuterie. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater earthy and silky nuances over time.
