Crafted by Maison Joseph Drouhin, a renowned Burgundy house founded in 1880, the 2022 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Laforêt is a pure Pinot Noir sourced from a dozen rigorously selected appellations across Burgundy, including plots near the tops of slopes close to forests, reflecting the cuvée’s name, which translates to “the forest” in French. The grapes, grown on clay and limestone soils, are hand-harvested and fully destemmed, followed by a 1-2 week maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 10-14 months in a mix of stainless steel and French oak barrels (15-20% new) to enhance its elegance while preserving fruit purity. This biodynamic and sustainable approach captures the 2022 vintage’s impressive brightness and intensity, resulting in a wine that balances vibrant fruit with silky tannins and great aging potential, embodying Drouhin’s signature style of finesse and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir displays a bright ruby hue with aromas of raspberry, red currant, and wild strawberry, accented by floral notes of peony and violet, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, pleasant, and refreshing, offering flavors of red fruit, soft tannins, and a touch of minerality, culminating in an elegant, fruity finish.
