From Maison Joseph Drouhin in France’s Echézeaux Grand Cru, the Echézeaux 2023 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from a 0.41-hectare parcel in the heart of the 37.7-hectare vineyard, featuring clay-limestone soils with a moderate east-facing incline that imparts exceptional elegance and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the generous 2023 vintage—characterized by warm conditions yielding ripe yet balanced fruit—undergo 2-3 weeks of fermentation and maceration in small open vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by 18-20 months' aging in French oak barrels (30-40% new) to enhance texture and purity. Committed to sustainable viticulture since 2006, this production yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and profound harmony.

Tasting Notes An elegant, structured red with ripe red berries and floral finesse, reflecting Echézeaux's limestone-clay terroir. The nose reveals cherry, rose petal, violet, and hints of graphite and exotic wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet poised, with velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and mineral earthiness, leading to a long, silky finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru earned 94 points from James Suckling for its concentrated depth and fine tannins.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted game, truffle-infused dishes, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2040, developing profound earthy and truffle nuances over time.
