From Maison Joseph Drouhin in France’s Meursault, the Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2023 is a refined 100% Chardonnay sourced from the prestigious Charmes Premier Cru vineyard, featuring clay-limestone soils on a gentle slope that impart richness and balance. Hand-harvested grapes from the generous 2023 vintage—characterized by warm conditions yielding ripe yet balanced fruit—undergo gentle pneumatic pressing, fermentation in French oak barrels, and 12-15 months' aging on lees with malolactic conversion to enhance texture and complexity. Committed to sustainable viticulture since 2006, this production yields a pale gold wine with green highlights and remarkable elegance.

Tasting Notes An elegant, textured white with ripe stone fruit and creamy oak, reflecting Meursault’s limestone-clay terroir. The nose reveals pear, hazelnut, vanilla, and hints of white flowers and flint. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and harmonious, with bright acidity, silky texture, and flavors of lemon curd, brioche, and subtle minerality, leading to a long, refined finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes earned 96 points from James Suckling for its intense yellow fruit, crushed stone, and generous, long finish.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 20-30 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with lobster, creamy pasta, or poultry. Enjoy now through 2038, during which it will develop enhanced nutty and honeyed nuances.
