Ethereal, Floral, and Strikingly Elegant

Sourced from the heart of Domaine de l'Arlot's legendary monopole, the 2022 Clos de l'Arlot Rouge is a breathtaking showcase of elegance in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Standing in stark contrast to the appellation's typically rugged style, this cuvée offers a highly perfumed, "Vosne-like" bouquet of sour cherry, fresh strawberries, and summer flowers. Medium-bodied and brilliantly focused, it balances the sunny ripeness of the 2022 vintage with fine tension, delivering a sleek, stony finish framed by silky, perfectly integrated tannins.

Terroir, History & Acclaim

Critical Recognition:
James Suckling [94] pts
Jasper Morris [91-93] pts
  • 94 Points - James Suckling: "Still very youthful and a tad shy, but there's no mistaking this is a sophisticated wine for the village with subtle sour cherry and red berry aromas plus hints of summer flowers and blood oranges. At once compact, concentrated and elegant on the medium-bodied palate. Excellent drive in the long, sleek and stony finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."
  • 91-93 Points ★★★☆☆ - Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "A mid crimson colour, slightly deeper than Mont des Oiseaux. Rather more pure red fruit on the bouquet. Fine tension, medium plus bodied, more strawberry than raspberry, with an even fruit through to the finish, where the fine tannins and light acidity are in balance. Drink from 2029-2036."
  • The Fabled Monopole: Located in Premeaux-Prissey, the Clos de l'Arlot is the domaine's historic namesake monopole. Situated in a former quarry shaped like an amphitheatre, the vines dig into a complex mix of white oolite and Premeaux limestone, naturally imparting a striking mineral tension and a lighter, highly floral signature that stands out from the rest of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
  • Biodynamic Viticulture & Whole-Cluster Mastery: Managed under meticulous certified biodynamic practices, the estate employs sensitive, low-intervention vinification. Utilizing partial whole-cluster fermentation, the winemaking team coaxes an ethereal, airy perfume from the fruit without sacrificing the deep structural identity of the terroir.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir hand-harvested from old vines within the legendary 1er Cru monopole "Clos de l'Arlot".
  • Farmed strictly under certified biodynamic viticulture to champion vine health and natural soil purity.
  • Aged traditionally for 15 months in fine French oak barrels (maximum 45% new), protecting the delicate, highly floral aromatics.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Translucent, bright mid-crimson core with pale ruby margins.
  • Nose: Highly aromatic, elegant, and floral, opening with pretty notes of sour cherry, fresh wild strawberries, and summer flowers, laced with delicate hints of blood orange and a signature stony minerality.
  • Palate: Bone-dry, medium-bodied, and gracefully tensioned. A pristine entry of pure red fruit glides across the palate, guided by fine, perfectly polished tannins and light, poised acidity. The finish is sleek, elegant, and distinctly stony.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve slightly cool at 15–16°C. Maintaining a cooler temperature prevents the delicate, floral perfumes from fading and highlights the wine's vibrant energy.
  • Decanting: A brief 30-to-45 minute decant is recommended to allow the youthful fruit and whole-cluster spice to fully unfurl. While approachable soon, it is built to evolve beautifully in the cellar through 2036.
  • Western Pairing: Roasted quail, pan-seared duck breast with cherry reduction, veal sweetbreads, or a savory wild mushroom tart.
  • Asian Pairing: Peking Duck (北京烤鴨), delicate soy-braised chicken, or premium stir-fried mixed mushrooms.
