From Lawson's Dry Hills in New Zealand’s Marlborough, the The Pioneer Pinot Noir 2019 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from select parcels in the Southern Valleys on alluvial gravel and clay-loam soils that capture the region's cool maritime influences for vibrancy and depth. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2019 vintage—characterized by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo individual fermentation in small open-top fermenters with cold maceration and spontaneous wild yeasts, followed by 10 months' maturation in French oak casks and an additional 4 months' barrel aging after blending to enhance structure and complexity. Committed to sustainable viticulture since 1978, this production yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and approachable elegance.

On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of red berries, earth, and subtle oak, leading to a long, graceful finish.
