From Weingut Markus Molitor in Germany’s Mosel Valley, the Brauneberger Klostergarten Pinot Noir 2019 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from the finest plots of the Brauneberger Klostergarten vineyard, planted with French-origin vines on deep soil with a high proportion of decomposed slate that imparts concentration and minerality.
The vineyard is worked meticulously, with hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting to select only healthy, fully ripe grapes. The wine is aged in barrels for 18 months to develop structure, complexity, and elegance while maintaining the estate's ideal of maximally natural Mosel red wine.
Tasting Notes A concentrated, medium- to full-bodied Mosel Pinot Noir with a pure, intense, wonderfully concentrated and spicy, herbal/floral bouquet of ripe cherries and red as well as dark berries. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense and intense, tight and energetic, powerful in the best way yet not alcoholic, revealing concentration paired with great elegance and finesse.
Awards and Accolades The 2019 Brauneberger Klostergarten Pinot Noir earned 94 points from Stephen Reinhardt (Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) for its pure, intense bouquet and elegant, concentrated palate.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled poultry, roasted pork, or mushroom dishes. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater earthy and silky nuances over time.
