From Bodegas Muga in Haro, Rioja Alta, the Selección Especial Reserva 2020 is a refined blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo, and 3% Graciano. Sourced from old vines on clay-limestone terraces in Rioja Alta and Oriental, it’s hand-harvested and aged 26 months in French oak barrels (40% new), offering an intense cherry hue with vibrant complexity.

The nose reveals black fruit, plums, and spices, with hints of vanilla-cedar, coffee, and herbs. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and creamy, with fine tannins, refreshing acidity, and flavors of ripe fruit, chocolate, and a long, chalky finish.

The 2020 Selección Especial Reserva earned 92 points from Vinous for its creamy, juicy profile and 90.5 points from CellarTracker for its balanced, spicy depth in the 2020 vintage.
