Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc Les Sétilles 2022 is a village‑level Chardonnay mainly from Puligny‑Montrachet and Meursault, offering a polished yet accessible snapshot of Côte de Beaune terroir. It shows aromas of white flowers, peach, grilled almond, lemon peel, and honeyed white fruits over a mineral core, with a fresh, lively, medium‑bodied palate and chalky finish.

Les Sétilles (“family garden”) is blended from around sixty climats, predominantly in Puligny‑Montrachet and Meursault, with some Hautes‑Côtes de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise parcels contributing extra freshness and lift. Soils are mainly calcareous and silty clays, and fruit is 100% Chardonnay, about half crushed and half whole‑bunch pressed, then settled for 24 hours. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place mostly in oak, with 90% of the wine aged in barrels (about 10% new) and 10% in stainless steel, for a total of about 14 months’ élevage including 5 months in tank before bottling at 13% alcohol. The warm, very sunny 2022 vintage brought ripe, generous fruit while retaining enough acidity for balance.

Tasting Notes

Les Sétilles opens with seductive notes of honeyed white‑fleshed fruits, white flowers, ripe pear, baked apple, and a touch of acacia and lemon zest on a mineral background. On the palate it is smooth and inviting, medium‑bodied, with flavors of peach, baked/ripe apple, crisp apples and lemon zest, toasted almond and light butter, all carried by lively acidity and a chalk‑dust mineral streak that keeps the finish clean, expressive, and mouthwatering rather than heavy.

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at 10–12°C in a Burgundy/Chardonnay glass; no decanting is necessary, though a brief 15–20 minutes in the glass helps the nutty notes emerge. Drink now to 2028 for optimum balance of fruit and minerality. It pairs well with swordfish marinated in lime, fried calamari, white fish, roast chicken or turkey, creamy pasta, soft cheeses, and Brie served hot or cold.
