The Sadie Family Skurfberg 2024 is a single‑site Chenin Blanc from the Skurfberg plateau (Citrusdal Mountains), vinified by Eben Sadie as a taut, linear, mineral white with concentrated citrus and stone‑fruit flavours, racy acidity and pronounced saline/rocky tension reflective of decomposed Table Mountain sandstone soils.

Skurfberg is sourced from very old, often ungrafted Chenin bush vines on shallow, decomposed sandstone soils above the Olifants River/Citrusdal area; Sadie uses whole‑cluster pressing, spontaneous ferments and ageing in large old oak foudres or old casks to preserve purity and site expression. The 2024 bottling continues the house practice of low intervention, producing a concentrated but tightly wound wine with strong mineral backbone and restrained fruit, intended to show site rather than overt new‑wood influence.

Tasting Notes
Notes for this vintage emphasise lime and lemon zest, green pear, white blossoms, wet stone and saline/sea‑spray impressions, with a palate that is linear, energetic, and textured—marked by steely acidity, chalky mineral drive and a long, dry finish.

Serving and Cellaring
Serve chilled (8–10°C) in a white or universal glass to reveal the wine’s minerality and tension. Skurfberg is built to age — cellaring 5–15+ years will allow textural integration and development of tertiary notes while retaining saline freshness.
